 Don't feel bad Salvador,

If the US goes down, Australia here won't be too far behind.

"You see the results of that today because we are no longer the most
productive country on the planet, the Chinese Communist model has
been
kicking our butts for years and now China is officially the top dog
now."

 Agreed

"Sorry about the politics, but this country is fighting for its
life."

 And agreed

A quick anecdote. When I "graduated" from kindergarten my parents
moved to Mexico. There I attended first grade and half of second. When
I was in second grade we were learning our times tables and how to
write in type and script. Then we moved back to the US and I finished
the last half of second grade. I noticed that the education system was
behind. I did not start learning how to multiply till I was in third
grade.

I was also able to compare subjects taken in Jr High School and High
School and found that the US curriculum was more basic. As I graduated
from college I firmly believed that the US was falling behind in
education. Now fast forward 30 years and I see reports where the US is
not anywhere the top 10 countries as far as education goes. On certain
subjects it was ranked in 27th place.

 .
As Gene points out the US is now not the most productive country.
High school grads are not pursuing technical careers. This has reached
such critical levels that now there is a wave of attempts to get young
kids interested in different engineering fields. This has given us
such trends as STEM and Maker Faires. Schools and libraries are
holding Science Fairs. Even if these efforts are successful, there
won't be results for a decade (at least).

The US, considered one of most powerful nations, has a people that
are one of the sickest on the planet.

Yes, I agree with Gene in that the US is fighting for its life.
Decades of incorrect decisions are now taking its toll and putting the
country in a situation that can't be corrected in the short run, if at
all, since The People need to understand that there is a problem and
need to want a solution. Instead we are being inundated by political
TV spots as to why we shouldn't vote for so and so (at least in the
areas that will be having elections soon).

I too apologize for this rant. I just hate to be led by nincompoops.
:-) Salvador
