[Coco] modifiying a coco 2 power supply

The original question was about the Coco2, how about the Coco3?
To keep the case cooler, could I use an external WART?
What voltages are supplied by the original Coco3 power supply?
Would a +5V, 2A WART do, when a floppy controller plugged in?
My ACIA pak generates +/- 12V via a MAX chip.
