I would not modify 1.2mb drives.

They write tracks half the width of 360k drives, and need to be double 
stepped to approximate 360k operation. Unless you bulk erase and re-write a 
360k disk to a disk made in a 1.2mb drive, you will have problems taking 
that disk to a computer with a 360k drive.

You are better off reselling the drives and buying real 360k drives from 
eBay.
