Not to drag things off-topic, but my father was stationed in Japan during 
post-war occupation in 1945-46.  He dragged back a number of Japanese MIL 
radios, including a Nav-Com hacksawed out of its shockmounts in the 
cockpit of a Zero.  Some are familiar to collectors, but I've never met 
anyone who recognized the Nav-Com.

Incredibly, the leather cases on all the field radios are still intact and 
supple - 75 years after manufacture date!
