Robert, I have to agree with Nick.... Any time I have a programming problem, I go to the "Coco Wizard". Without your help and advice, I would have never gotten my software projects as far along as they are. You have a tendency to look at things logically and go straight to the problem at hand... and finding unseen problems along the way :-)
It's the very reason I have (very) often asked you to "test run" my software. You notice and find things I am overlooking. Your knowledge of how the system flows (RSDOS & OS9) is invaluable to the Coco Community.
Anyone not familiar with Robert's efforts can just look at almost ANY source code in the OS9 repository. They will find his initials in the "Changes" at the top of almost every source as well as all through the source itself. Usually nothing major.... just a "typo" correction or small bug fix. But usually it corrects something that has been "bugging" people for years as a "long standing" bug.
In working on my projects, I have researched every type of source code I can find to figure out how to do all the various things my software does.... and it never ceases to amaze me to find the initials, "RG" in an edit in someone else's code. I see it often. Many people have turned to Robert to help them with certain aspects of their coding. A fine example of this would be Lester Hands who wrote the "Lyra" MIDI sequencer for RSDOS. When Lester wanted to revise Lyra for compatibility for people who were running Kenton/RGBDOS hard drive systems, he contacted Robert, who then "fixed" Lyra so it would read the 255 "virtual disks" on the system. He didn't stop there... Through the years, as the state of the Coco changed and "DriveWire" was introduced, he continued to update Lyra to be compatible with the newer systems even though Lester had long abandoned Lyra and left the Coco Community
Without Robert's knowledge and input, the current state of NitrOS9 would never have been as stable as it is now and HDBDOS/RGBDOS would never have existed.
My current project, (MShell) is just about built around Robert's suggestions and advice. MShell's ability to copy RSDOS files to and from OS9 is largely Robert's work based on his "HRSDOS" code (which he so graciously supplied). Without him, I would still be looking for a way to correctly maneuver RSDOS files from OS9. Not to mention all the spelling corrections he's found in the menu systems and system messages.
I'm pretty sure I am not alone in saying "Thank You Robert Gault"... from the entire Coco Community.

Nick,
You are too kind and my wife is telling me I'm getting a swelled head. :)
I'm just helping provide tools. You are the creative genius.
Robert
