The floppy controllers need the SCS* signal for their decoding. If you have
more than one external device connected, chances are you have them in a
Multi-Pak Interface. The MPI routes the SCS* signal to only one device at a
time so there shouldn't be any conflicts. You do need to use software that
knows how to activate the proper MPI slot for the device it is targeting.

If you are using a Y cable instead of an MPI then you have a problem.
