I would commit it as a new rom. Leave the old "as is".'
Create an "hdbdos_16k.rom" or something. This way, "just in case" something isn't right, we can fall back and no "current" builds are screwed. I think this is what's been happening in the past and causing us to lose what we had before. It will also give us code to play with (as in adding routines) without losing the current HDBDOS that works well.
This may be what you are intending, just stating this to clarify :-)
