[Coco] The Tri-Annual CoCo 4 Thread

Frank (and anyone else),
As far as "already done". I was more referring to what HAS been done.... SuperIDE, DriveWire, IDE HDs, VGA adapters, Keyboard interfaces, 8-16 meg Memory, 4mhz clock, SD card readers.... etc.

The way I see it, with just what little bit of the new technology I can afford for now, the Coco 3 sitting in front of me IS a Coco 4.
My Coco runs a 1 meg Nitros9 DW4 system accessing 4 HDs (virtual) with internet access, AT keyboard, stereo sound (orch90), midi interface, full modern midi access through drivewire, and access to the complete Color Computer archive of software anytime I want to run something.... instantly.
And I don't even have a disk drive connected.... :-)

To have all this in the 80s would have been CRAZY (and expensive!). I could only dream of such a system. Back then I had a Coco 3, 512k, 300 baud modem, a single disk drive (eventually added a 3.5 later), and 2 local BBSs.

As long as this one runs and they keep throwing them on ebay so I can keep one running, I'm very happpy with my system. When someone does come out with something new and if I can afford it, I will go that route too. As I get the finances to add to this system, I do just that and my Coco gets better.

So keep playing with ideas for a Coco 4... I'll keep playing with my Coco :-)

To be fair I doubt very little has actually been tried. Talked about and debated
yes, but actually tried??
