I don't know what you mean by "Vanilla OS9" but I still use an upgraded OS9. It's basically stock with patches to eliminate some bugs when it was released.
I'm good with it. It does as it was intended to do and is plenty fast
for my intentions. Even NitrOS9 can't do what I wish it could do because
the poor old 'puter is just too slow. Otherwise, it is really easy for
me to write Basic09 programs to do what I need, when I need peeks and
pokes.
If there was a program that I could use on this Winderz box that would
give me the power to do what I can do on the Coco3, I would start
learning it. However, I'm already familiar with B09 and building the
boards to peek and poke to are very easy for me. Those boards are not
really something that the coco ever came with but at least, I have the
knowledge to build them.
