[Coco] serial port problem

Mathieu, Drivewire uses special software and protocol to run the Coco at 115200 baud. This is why I say old baud rates do not apply. You do not "set" the baud rate for dw4 on the Coco. That is done in hdbdos and Os9 drivers. Leave the baud rate at the default value.
I do not know what is wrong with the Linux version of the dw4 gui, but I'm pretty sure there are a few here who could answer that for you that use linux and dw4. I use windows only so I can only vouch for the windows gui which works pretty well.
I may set up a VBox with linux so I can run some tests and see what is going on.
But remember, when you run the Simple Config Wizard in DW4, leave all settings at their default other than your computer selection and your com port. The baud rates are set automatically for certain Coco modules by default.

I had done this at first, and then I realised that the serial cable I have
does not connect any pins apart from RX, TX, GND (which are DB9's 2,3,5).
The cable does contain enough wires to connect everything, but I think
that this is a custom-built cable made by someone who got lazy. I had
another cable but I threw it away earlier this year because I hadn't used
a RS232 port since about 12 years (and luckily, I didn't throw away both
cables).
I could find a way to to the bridges inside the cable's plug on the PC
side, but I don't know why that would make 4800 bauds begin to work, when
currently 2400 already works. For example, it can't be a flow-control
issue yet, it doesn't look like that (otherwise, at least *some*
characters would go through correctly).
