I don't think it would be restricted to just CoCo enthusiasts. Any retro enthusiast is probably using BASIC on a variety of platforms. I've been doing a LOT of BASIC programming on RetroBattlestations lately, and many other people have been taking my work and porting it to different platforms that I don't own or didn't have the time to do myself.

I've been using emacs for writing most of the code and then pasting into emulators until it works right. After that I'll either transfer it over to the real computer, or in a few cases end up retyping the entire program just to see it run on the real thing. I've been porting to the BBC Micro, TRS-80 CoCo 2, TRS-80 Model 100, Mattel Aquarius, Apple II, Atari 800, Commodore 64, Commodore Plus/4, and some others.

I also spent a little time trying to abuse the gcc preprocessor to make multi-platform portable BASIC code, but it didn't quite work out.
