Yeah, I've learned that the first thing I do when I get anything with edge
connectors is to "erase" them. Makes no difference. I actually suspect the
Coco1 (it is in NO WAY virgin). I'm gonna open it up again and check to see
if the chips are all set properly.
BTW, what would happen if I took chips out of the trashed Coco2 and put them
in the Coco1?

Assuming the controller's contracts (on both surfaces) are bright and
shiny, and that you'v e tried the pencil eraser cleaning method....
my next suspect would be the 6809. Perhaps it is getting stuck in
HALT mode during DSKINI and memory is going too long without refresh??
Another possible suspect is bad index hole detection, which is only
used during DSKINI. Though I wouldn't think that would cause a crash
of the sort you describe.
