[Coco] OS9 vs RSDOS disks

nope that's not true. if you clean the tracks for the Rsdos directory it will show as an empty disk but yet still a valid os-9 disk. any attempt to write you could ruin it (for os-9 side only).

the only way is reading and interpreting lsn0 for a valid os-9 geometry.
