Nope, I tried the POKE 65494,0, typed DOS, and NitrSO-9 booted up, but as
soon as the {Term|02}/DD: prompt came up, it started flashing and turning
black.

Could it possibly be associated with NitrOS-9 running in the double-speed
mode?  I haven't the foggiest idea why that should make any difference
whatsoever, but you could try the speed poke under RSDOS and see if the
monitor reacts.
