Allen Had remarked that a few people at the fest were C64 fans looking or going back to the CoCo. I actually am one of those fans (Amiga in my case). My theory and excuse for coming back to the CoCo is that the Commodore scene has just become too insane over the last few years. Absolutely INSANE prices on Ebay (Not ask, but actually selling for), Most of the North American hardware being sold and shipped to Europe, not to mention one huge scam artist opening up a company called "Commodore USA" and selling way underpowered linux boxes with Commodore's name on them, Conning the public saying they are the new Commodore and only shipping about 10% of what they actually sell.
It all adds up to people looking for a retro alternative. The CoCo is relatively cheap and easy NOW to get into and have fun with, and unlike the Amiga, it's popularity was Mostly limited to the North American market. The "FEST" -literally is the last place people can get together, and as you saw this year, it's only going to get bigger and better in the years to come. The bad side is that prices are generally going to up, which is good news for the auction at the fest, but bad news for the budget collector.
We are on the brink of a huge explosion for the CoCo community, it's scary to think what may happen, but if we all start getting ready and cultivating it now, it should go smoothly. I would not be surprised by any means if the attendance at next years fest almost doubles, and the "Virtual" attendance doubles. More and more people are finding the Facebook page daily, and even on Youtube, my channel is starting to shows some numbers of views (way more than I thought would happen).
Ok, I will stop rambling now
