[Coco] Dallas Quest (adventure game)

Was this game actually licensed, or did the people just use the "Dallas" TV
name and theme on their own?

I honestly have no idea, but can't imagine any Coco games paying licensing
fees back in the 80s...

I actually have quite fond memories of The Dallas Quest, though I've only
played (and still own) the Commodore 64 version. As a kid, I got it from a
mail order software closeout place, along with other great Datasoft titles
like Mancopter. Anyway, it's funny that you mention not beating it. Unlike
nearly every other text and text and graphics adventure of the time, for
whatever reason, I was able to beat it my first playthrough, in about 5
hours or so of straight play. I never had that same experience with any
other game of that type and had a blast and great feeling of accomplishment
because of it. Needless to say, the Dallas license was bizarre and probably
ill-informed (was there much cross-over at the time between Dallas fans and
8-bit computer users?), and, ultimately, the game had little connection with
the series, but I enjoyed it, and in the end, that's what matters.
