I'm not familiar with the FD-500 circuit, but I'd guess it's highly
unlikely that plugging in drives whilst powered-on would cause a problem
on the Coco itself!?! The data cable only carriers power for the IDE
interface circuitry I/O, not the drive/mechanism itself.
I also don't have access to my retro archives atm so I can't even look
at the schematic to see how the keyboard is connected to the CPU. I'm
sure others on this list can offer suggestions.
