OK, open messui and get the list of Coco emulations showing in a window. I
prefer to set up a filename.ini file so that all I see are Coco models.
You can create that list using the menu or just make sure there is a "folders"
sub-directory in the main MESS folder. The folder needs a file, "filename.ini",
the contents of which might be
[FOLDER_SETTINGS]
[ROOT_FOLDER]
coco
cocoe
coco2
coco2b
coco3
coco3h
coco3p
Now with that set up, make sure the MESS menubar/view has toolbar checked. Click
on the far left icon to turn on Folder List. Select the entry "filename" and
click again on the far left icon to turn off the Folder List.
Now select the Coco emulation you want, right click on it, and select
Properties. You will get a selection of panels and can explore them for
appropriate settings. One that you want is the Debug panel.
Make sure that no entries on the Debug panel are checked. That should turn off
the debugger.
There are several critical Property entries you will want. Enable a mouse input
and sound output. Select the desired memory size, 2Meg for best OS-9 action.
On the advanced panel, select "draw every frame", and emulation speed 1.00.
This ought to correct your speed related problems.
