It's using the wiznet chip on the Ethernet shield.
(I've got one of the original run that's a little different)
That alone is 45.00 over at sparkfun.

Subject: [Coco] Arduino question
Hello all;
I saw by a post on another list that one of the things an arduino can be
had with these days is a full TCP stack. No clue about the cost for that
option, (they also have a USB2.0 package too) but since these things start
at about 7 or 8 dollars, is anyone looking into this?
The makerbot site might be a good source for ideas.
Cheers, Gene
