Ed,
Would you clear up a few points about your system? For most Coco users a RAM
drive does not retain anything when power is turned off. So what do you mean by
a RAM drive?
To be able to boot from such a device it would need to be non-volatile memory.
Is that what you are using?
If your RAM drive is the default drive, it must at least contain a command
directory stocked with a minimum of programs. If you want to be completely
independent of floppies, then your RAM drive must act as a complete OS-9 boot
disk with the correct number of modules in an OS9Boot file. But unless the drive
retains its contents without power, you won't be able to boot from it.
Most OS-9 users would not have a RAM drive as the default drive. However, once
OS-9 has booted, then you can use a RAM drive for word processing or assembly
language work as it is faster than any other drive and silent.
So without knowing how your system is configured, there is no good way to answer
your question about the boot error.
