That's not hardware Raid, it's just software raid with a windows driver. :)
I'm an Intel reseller, and only sell true hardware raid cards with battery backup to enable write caching.
On board raid is a joke and always has been.

I've found that with Linux the software raid (md and lvm) performs as well or better then
the hardware raid provided on motherboards. I tried using the onboard hardware raid and it
left a lot to be desired.
