Mark,
For me, I don't look at my $100 as a deposit, but support fund for you
and Cloud-9.
Let us travel back to 2008 and my first CoCoFest in more than a decade.
While the turnout was smaller than the CoCoFest that I attend, it was an
active group of people that love the CoCo and its community. But what
surprised me was the number of people creating new computer hardware for
the CoCo. Roy R Justus was there with his RGB-to-VGA Converter and
Cloud-9 had a double table with lots of CoCo hardware.
As both a hardware and software designer, I know the hardware side of
the biz is very costly with a low profit margin. So, at the end of the
show I did my bit to help with a purchase Roy's Converter and few
leftover products from Cloud-9. My last act was to give Mark a
"deposit" for the Superboard.
I have never asked "were is my board" or demand for my deposit back.
(And never will.) As I said before, it was a support fund.
But I do have the right to say that the Super Board has been come the
Duke Nukem Forever of the CoCo community.
Both projects have suffered from constant redesign due to improvements
in technology. At some point you need to finalize what the board will
do so it's no longer the black-hole of your time and money. You got a
lot of great ideas for the CoCo community and this project is weighing
you down.
Even Duke Nukem Forever will see the light of day. (Really, its due out
this May!) But should you decide that the Super Board should not come
out in faver for new projects, so be it! Just along the black-hole is gone.
