[Coco] New CoCo site for programmers

While the topic has been bought up, I'd like to say a few things.

Ok so I'm on a bit of a soapbox here, but if the CoCo community ends up
better for it then why not. I also know for a fact that I'm not the only one
who has hmm, let's say certain issues with that community as it stands.

I just think it would be great to see a lot more encouragemnt from each of
us for those working on projects.

It takes all of 10 seconds to login, and another 10 seconds to say nice
work, or well done.

I've seen it over and over again where individuals will put in a lot of work
to a project and very few people respond. Ok so you can probably do a lot
better, so what? You may have no interest in what they're doing. But would
it really hurt to take 20 seconds to show your support?

As a community of those of us who are left, should wbe not encourage each
other so that we might see new things done? I'm sure we'd all like to see
that.

There seems to be too much of, yeah that's cool, but I didn't do it so I
won't bother commenting.

Seriosuly guys, the way many people are behaving towards others who are
actually having a go, is not a community I want to be a part of.

And it will only lead to divisions and hostility. Who want's that?

Is it really too much to ask to support those having a go?

I rasie the topic for each and every one of us to think about.

Don't like me, I don't care! But someone has to say something or it's just a
bunch of guys who are boosting their egos on what they've done in the past.

Jason

Hi Gene,

No problems with age mate, just those that show no personality and only try
to put others down to make themselves feel better.

Yeah agreed on typos in code, I tend to focus a lot more on the details of
what I'm writing there :)

I do respect the older guys for what they have contributed, that said I
still believe respect is something that's earned and not just expected to be
given to older folks. Or those folks who feel the deserve respect for what
they have done years ago and no longer contribute in any positive way.

I have no intention of alienating anyone, but at the same time, if we can
discourage the ones who are in it for themselves and will only bring others
down, then I have no problem discouraging them not to join :)

I just want CoCo programming to be fun and encouraging again, and would like
to share it with those who have the same outlook.

I can't please everybody and have no intention of trying. Other no doubt
feel the same way about me, and you already know my response to that :)

Jason

Chuckle, and I may well be one of those. OTOH, I should point out that
typo's probably make up well over 50% of all bugs in ones own code, or any
collection of code, so it does pay to pay attention to them, at least when
coding, there is a huge difference between an 'lda' and an 'ldb' because its
2 separate registers, which can also be loaded with a 16 bit value with an
'ldd value'.

It may also be noted that some of us 'old stiffs' (I'm 75, and there are
folks senior to me here on this list) were carving code on a coco 25 years
ago, and that we would like to think we are a resource of helpful info if
you
ask. You may even have already used some of my code if you are using
os9/nitros9, but there are quite a few here who can claim that, more
productive folks than I back in the heyday.
