a little different approach is to use this:
Found one online somewhere for $20 a couple years ago. I suppose the
TV tuner part is not much use anymore, but it does a great job of
converting several types of older input into VGA. I've found it gives
a surprisingly good picture from composite sources. I use it with
several older computers.
