I'm not sure I understand completely, but would something like the
Cloud 9 SuperIDE or Roger's DrivePak be what you are looking for?
These provide storage, either on CF card or SD card.  Also, Steve
Bjork is working on a similar device that would provide a simulated
FDC as the interface to the storage.  That will allow games that don't
work with things like DW, SuperIDE and the DrivePak to work.
