I fail to see then how, without a frame buffer, you can display a 50Hz PAL 
output on a VGA monitor that syncs at 60Hz. I'm sure it won't.

FWIW I have an old COMPAQ SVGA monitor that _will_ sync at 50Hz. But it's 
not common.
