[Coco] NitrOS9 CVS howto?

I'm a newbie as far as CVS is concerned. I installed CYGWIN, and I have some 
questions:

How can I get the entire NitrOS9 tree onto my computer, or is this frowned 
on?

Is there a set of instructions for CVS? There doesn't appear to be a man 
page inside cygwin. I did see the option --help-commands, but this is rather 
terse.
