cool :-) I was looking to do that first, then use an lm1881 to extract vertical sync (or two one shots to get vertical sync from FS* of the vdg), the vdg outputs the horizontal sync*, then using fast comparators or op-amps as comparators to get rgb from the difference signals (does this sound like it will work?) -jeric

I use the two NPN transistors in the darlington configuration
and it does work well.
