Perl is a modern programming language that has grown to use (and need)
the power of 32/64 CPU.
Perl on most computers modern computer 75 MB or more. As a Perl
programmer, I use it on PC, Mac and Linux (web server) but could never
see running on a CoCo.
There is very good reason why I had programmed to the metal for the CoCo
(aka Assembly), there was not much of a computer to get the job done.
Today's computer are 5,000 times faster and 8,000 times more ram! That
why can do some much more today than with systems built 30 years ago.
The bottom line, if you want to use modern software (and programming
languages) than use a modern computer.
