Allan,
Thank you for your offer of help with the game! I already have the manual, so I'm already set there. Thanks for the tips! I think the main stumbling block I faced, if I remember correctly, was that there were certain dungeons that I had to get to in order to progress further in the game, which were inaccessible without acquiring a special pair of boots to cross some certain terrain. The boots were only to be found in the City of Theives. Once going there, I would become evil and I would eventually die due to damage inflicted during encounters with creatures, since I was unable to heal myself at the Wood Nymph anymore since I was no longer pure in heart :-(
