...and on a related note, are there any good options for doing this 
with a Macintosh?

I've just gotten my Coco 3 out of my parents' basement (it's been 
there for a good twelve years!), and there are a few old BASIC 
programs I wrote that I'd like to retrieve from 5-1/4" floppy (I have 
a FD-500).

Is my best option to load these programs from disk, CSAVE them to 
cassette, and then somehow (how?) turn them into .cas images?  I can 
easily transfer the raw sound from the cassettes to WAV files 
(assuming 44.1kHz is a good enough sampling rate), but I don't know 
how to make a .cas from a WAV file.  I have a beige G3 and a 
PowerBook G4, and if there's a good DOS utility out there to make 
.cas files, I can probably get it working in DOSBox.

Eventually I guess I'll have to pick up an old PC with a 5-1/4" 
drive, especially because I'd like to play some of the games I've 
been enjoying via emulation on real hardware...but that's a ways off 
yet, and in the meantime I want to make sure the BASIC masterpieces I 
wrote as an eight-year-old get preserved!  :)  A whole pile of stuff 
from Rainbow is on those disks too, though my disk of games went 
south back in the 1990s.
