I don't see why you're stopping.

Agreements made before Lonnie's passing are still valid, just as his 
estate needs to settle his outstanding debts, etc.

Sounds like you've already gone above and beyond in trying to contact 
the estate and just make sure it was ok, but if I were you I'd just go 
on. You have a contract, and as long as you stick to the terms therein, 
you've got no reason to stop.
