Always wondered why Tandy / Radio Shack ever named the minimum file
allocation space on the floppy disk a "GRANULE". Ahh!, a quick check at
Wikipedia brought back this:
*-------------
In computer terms: A granule is a unit of contiguous (adjacent/bordering)
virtual memory allocation.
*-------------
Webster's on-line dictionary facilities threw back:
*-------------
Etymology:Late Latin *granulum,* diminutive of Latin *granum* grainDate:1652
1*:* a small particle; *especially* *:* one of numerous particles forming a
larger unit
2*:* any of the small short-lived brilliant spots on the sun's photosphere
*-------------
:-)
