Shamus and Sands of Egypt both check for the same bad sector. The program that makes a backup of the SOE disk will also work for Shamus.

There are instructions posted elsewhere that describe how to patch the SOE disk to remove the copy-protection. This will almost certainly NOT work for Shamus. Its likely that someone has figured out how to patch Shamus as well, but I've not found that info anywhere.
