Do you have any more hints as to what the symptoms were when the monitor
died? did it just go without making a sound? smoke? didn't power up at a
given time? what about the rest of your hardware?

An LCD monitor may not use the high voltage power supplies as the ones found
in regular CRT equipped monitors, but its electronics are still prone to
failure under harsh environmental conditions.

Humid environments usually pose a threat when you move your electronic gear
from a 'cold' place to a damp one. The humidity can condense on the
electronics inside and ante up the possibilities of causing a short
circuit... the hardware usually evens out (temperature wise) in a few hours,
meaning this that you can power up your stuff 12 hours after relocating it,
that time should be enough for any dew to evaporate and dry out... give it
24 hours for good measure. You state two weeks... that's a lot of time for
normal humidity conditions to cause a problem, that is unless your garage is
tropical jungle damp...
