[Coco] bug in MESS?

ok, folks,

Why does the following line generate an SN error in MESS:

70 DSKI$(DN,TK,SE,A$,B$): REM READ THE SECTOR

DN = 0, TK = 17, SE = 3, A$ and B$ are both preloaded to 255 chars (just in 
case). There's a valid DSK image mounted in drive 0, which I *know* is good, 
'cos I saved the file to it successfully.

Am I doing it wrong, or is there a bug in MESS?
