Rumor has it that Chester A. Patterson may have mentioned these words:

If there was that much gunk on the heads, the drive motor/belt might have
some gunk in there too, and the drive might not be "up to speed" so to
speak. The 5.25 drive should spin at 300RPM, IIRC.
There are programs to check the spin speed of the drive - (check for index
pulse, start timer, count until next index pulse, read timer, compare to
table and/or calculate RPM) but at this rate, you might need a xfer proggie
from a PC w/3.5" drive to get it to your CoCo. There's been several threads
lately WRT them.
