Hi Thierry,
Well, I think in Australia they use 240V and in Europe generally 220V, but
the difference is so small that it is really the same thing. Powernets are
usually classified as being 240-220V on the one hand and 100-127V on the
other. In other words: You can readily use Australian CoCos as well as the
one I have that is adapted to 220V. Of course that is quite safe. In any
case safer than having to use an external transformator.

I also have OS-9 disks and manuals (level II, I believe), that I am not
going to use for time being anyway, that you can "borrow". What do you say
to that I'll start assembling a little package for you. More things can be
added along the way, and when we feel we are done you can quote me on a
price.
I guess you can call NitrOS-9 a clone, but it is one that is specifically
written and optimized for CoCo3's with the 6309 CPU installed as opposed to
the usual 6809 they are equipped with.

Below I have copied a correspondance with Christopher Hawks about a
RGB-to-PAL video adapter. So you can get in touch with him...

Sock Master (John Kowalski) posted a message (way back, 13 Dec 2005
??)
about pulling S-Video from the RGB-to-PAL daughterboard. I _could_ build
the RGB to S-Video adapter for PAL (simple changes to the circuit), but,
have no way to test it.

Hi Chris,
Thanks. Would that mean, in theory, that one can take a CoCo3 that normally
sends an NTSC signal through its antenna cable and composite video outputs,
hook up the adapter to the RGB output and have the screen displayed on a PAL
television?
I think I would be interested in this even if it would mean having to send
it back and forth a couple of times. What do you think?
Cheers,
Fedor

Hi Fedor,
All it would require to convert the RGB-to-Svideo circuit to output PAL
instead of NTSC would be to replace the 3.579545 Mhz crystal with a 4.433619
Mhz one, cut the trace going to pin 1 of the AD724 chip and then rewire pin
1 to ground.
I can't say Chris would do it, because I'm not him - but I'm 99% sure this
modification would just work the first time without having to send it back
for an adjustment.

John,
While I'm not Chris and I don't speak for him. I do however recall
seeing an email from him stating that while he would be willing to
make that change needed to output PAL he had no way of testing it and
as a result couldn't guarantee that it would work.

Thanks for the advice! I am still considering, but in principle I am willing
to pay for Christopher's labour and all shipping costs, even if only to make
sure this is possible. There aren't many PAL CoCo3's around and neither CM-8
monitors, so good to have this alternative.
BTW does anyone what other colour monitors can, perhaps with modification,
be used to hook up to a CoCo3?
Cheers,
Fedor

Fedor, the commodore 1084 series monitors are usable with the coco3, but
need to have a cable mdae up to convert between the coco3 10 pin connector
and the 1084's connection (of several varieties)

also look for some of the old NEC MultiSync models: (I), (II), 3D, 3Ds.
These not only
work with the coco-3, but also VGA. -ph

Fedor:
I don't know much about PAL signals, but, John does. He says it will
work. I can build an adapter with the PAL changes for you.
You are on the list. I'm looking at 4 or 5 weeks to get to your adapter.

There is also Roy's adapter that drives a standard SVGA monitor.
