That wasn't quite right. There are two shells, shell_21 and shellplus. 
The makefile is set to place shell_21 in the command directory but merge 
shellplus with some other modules and that is put in the command 
directory as shell.

The logic of the above is lost on me. However if you are using unchanged 
makefiles, then then enhanced line editing should be working. I've no 
idea why it is not for you.
