Wich size / resolution and color or greyscale depth? There are dozens of
valid TIF format options with different compression results. If you
choose 1-Bit CCITT G4 2D compression with 600 dpi the file should be
much smaller. I guess you made an 8-Bit greyscale LZW compressed TIFF
which will be quite big because you're scanning a noisy picture in many
shades of "white" and "black" (the only 2 colors you actually need).
This is not really compressable using any other compression than the
lossy DCT based of the JPEG format. Anyway, thanks for helping Frank
with his project...
