Aww, gee. Mine doesn't have any fan holes in it, but the motherboard has
been attacked with a hot soldering iron & there is a notch in the rear
edge of the cover for a psu connector. I removed the power supply stuff
in both it and the mpi. It has 2 megs in it, and a 63C09. By removing the
power supply stuff and running it all (drives too) from a regular pc
supply, which has a fan but its seperate from the coco and doesn't even
blow on it, I have virtually no measureable heating. I can lay a photo
thermometor over that 2 megs of memory, toss a couple of blankets over it
and get a temp rise of maybe 2 degrees over a period of several hours
covered like that.
99% of the coco's heat, once the 6809 is gone, is the psu parts, and you
can usually fry eggs on them. Fans are nice, but I'd druther just get
rid of the src of the heat. Saves on air conditioning don't you know. :)
