I've had stalled and lost packages through the USPS, but none through UPS
or FedEx, ever.
From experience I know that during peak times for shipping that things can
go wrong in every shipping business, so I would assume that a 48-hour stall
on that package was due to a missort which means it has to travel back
through centers again until it is fixed.
Anyway, Canada and the U.S. definately are two different countries that do
business differently so business will go on no matter what we think so just
use the cheaper guys I guess like I do.
