Nice article. I really enjoyed it. Maybe a mention of some of the magazines that service us coco users such as Hot CoCo and the great, great Rainbow.

Just curious...if they didn't leave a slip, and the package got returned to
sender, how'd you discover what had happened?

The first time, the sender contacted me and gave me the tracking number.
I then called and complained and they delivered the package to an
alternate address that I provided. The other time, they actually called
me before returning the package. I complained that time, too.
The next time UPS tried to deliver a package, they didn't bother trying
the address on the package but just delivered it to the alternate
address I had provided the first time. That's just as dicey as not
leaving a notice in my book. What if that address is not valid anymore?
Needless to say, I avoid UPS if at all possible these days.
(Purolator, on the other hand, left a slip with a number to call and
telephoned me. I like Purolator much better than UPS at the moment. :) )

Usually on a slip that UPS leaves, indicating attempted delivery, it should
show where the
package can be picked up by the recipient, usually at the nearest UPS depot.
At least
that's the way it works here in NJ.
I, too, prefer USPS parcel post; at least the local P.O. is a lot closer
than a UPS depot,
and there's not always the desirability of tracking, with the extra fee.

Hi listers,
I was working on a "CoCo Tech" web page, but when I saw the entry for
the Atari 8 bit machines on wikipedia I decided to integrate my work
there instead.

now includes a lot of hardware information, though I'm not sure if that
would really be of interest to most people.

Looks cool, however, you are slightly in error with your description of
the Dragon:
The Dragon does have TV out, as well as a monitor port, also the monitor
output of the base machine is composite + sound (on a 5 pin din-180).
Also the 64 also has a Serial port however driven by a 6551, rather than
bitbanged.
Apart from that a good overview of the CoCo.

So, I wanted to try and see if an IDE controller
could be made out of surplus stuff. I found a
Lattice CPLD on a board, sucked it off and
re-programmed it to do 8-bit (only) IDE.
No upper data latch ($FF78).
It has a fixed address of $FF7X (0..7)
only because it ran out of pins.
Really tiny stuff. There is another PAL
on board to decode the $FFXX area, 74LS30 style.
It doesn't take much to do IDE.

Hi Phill,
I didn't write that part of the article, I'm not sure who did. Probably
someone on the list I would bet though.
Since you know the Dragon better than any of us, maybe you could go
ahead and create a separate entry for the Dragon which the CoCo page can
link to. I don't see any logical reason to describe a separate (although
similar) machine there in any detail anyway.
