Early 80's probably used Ventura Publishing or something similar. A
lot depends on whether he used a pc/mac or a main frame
computer to do the original type set.
My guess is that over the course of many years of publications
there were more than one software used to publish the mags. In that
case the electronic copies are of little use unless you have the
software to at least print them.
