Just a thought...
Since this prototype doesn't have a GIME nor does it really look like it has
enough chips on it to emulate the full functionality of the GIME, could this
prototype actually be one that utilizes the R.M.S. chipset that Motorola had
designed.
I have an article in a issue of Australian Rainbow that talks about this
chipset and the possibilities of it being used in the CoCo3. The chipset is
very "GIME-like".
Some of the features were:
1Mb RAM
horizontal resolution of 64 to 640 pixels
Vertical resolution of 64 to 500 pixels
32 colours from a palette of 4096
Virtual screen that is larger than the visible screen with smooth scrolling
8 sprites
R.M.S. stood for Raster Memory System
The chipset could also emulate the CoCo2 6883-6847 chipset.
There was a 146 page manual available from Motorola that described the
chipset.
Could this prototype be one that used this chipset but was later ditched for
the GIME design?
