Covering the HD hole tells the drive to turn down its record head 
drive, resulting in a very weak, quickly fading recording.  It 
probably will not be readable 2 weeks later & I've had failures in 10 
minutes!

Haunt ebay, old amigas were in the same boat and occasionally a bunch 
of disks might show up there.
