No reason not to agree other than that the coco community didn't *as a
group* embrace the Amiga as the successor. There were a few choices I
think:

Amiga
Atari ST
Coco 3, and eventually the MM/1.

If the shack had made the Amiga and called it a Coco, it would have been
accepted as such, I think, perhaps even without an emulator, but better
with it.
