What is AnaDisk?  Special hardware?

The author of the CoCo emulator has to make the disk images on a CoCo 
since the PC floppy controller isn't capable of reading the funky 
tracks, he said.  And I think Boisy was saying that XP can't access the 
raw disk sectors anymore so images have to be done under earlier DOSes.
