If you can take the magazines apart you can melt the newer glues with
gentle heat from a domestic iron at a low setting. I've done this
myself.

I use Picture Publisher 8 from Micrografx which I got for free from a
magazine. But I also use Paper Port which is a very effective
compressor, but not very standard, however you can D/L the viewer for
free.
