There is a variation on PNG called MNG which supports multiple images
in a file (among other things). JPEG is bad for this because it is
lossy. The only advantages that I can think of that TIFF has over GIF
is that it allows for more than 256 colors and that it supports greater
than 24-bit color spaces. The only advantage I can think of that it
has over PNG is that it allows for more than one image in a file. The
only advantage over MNG is that it is more widely supported.
